Magdalene (Lichti) Wagler, age 94, of Nithview Community, New Hamburg went to her final Home on March 21, 2019. She was born May 26, 1924, a daughter of the late Noah and Jacobena (Bender) Lichti. On June 15th, 1946, she married Emerson Wagler, who predeceased her on June 9, 2007. Magdalene is lovingly remembered by her children, Elizabeth Wagler of Eden, Manitoba, Sharon and Chuck Sammut of Cobourg, Donna and Gerald Jantzi of Millbank, Gerry and Susie Wagler of Shakespeare, Kay and Ron Shantz of St. Clements.
Magdalene will also be missed by her 25 grandchildren and 60 great-grandchildren and is remembered by her sister Annie Roth and her brothers/sisters-in-law, Lauretta Lichti, Ruby Gingerich, Laverne and Bernice Wagler, Sam and Elda Wagler and Irvin and Carol Wagler, and many nieces and nephews.
Magdalene was predeceased by her oldest son, Glen Wagler, granddaughter-in-law Katharina Sammut, and great-grandson, Travis Bauman, her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Samuel and Emma (Jutzi) Wagler, and by siblings, Barbara and Allen Bast, Catherine and Floyd Steinman, David and Fannie Lichti, Nicholas and Verna Lichti, Albert and Kaye Lichti, Julius and Floretta Lichti, Willis and Laura Lichti, Laverne and Nelda Lichti, Elmer Roth, Louis Lichti, Alvin Gingerich and Wilmer and Katie Wagler.
Magdalene loved her Lord and was baptized in her youth. She was a faithful member of Grace Mennonite Church, New Hamburg, and for many years was active in the sewing circle and church program there. She found pleasure in hosting guests at her table, enjoyed her flower gardens, and spent many relaxing hours quilting and knitting.
Relatives and friends are invited to the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron Street, New Hamburg, on Tuesday, April 2, 2019 for visitation from 2 – 4 & 6 – 8 p.m. Interment will take place on Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at 1:30 p.m.. at the 19th Line East Zorra Mennonite Cemetery. Following the interment, the funeral service will take place at East Zorra Mennonite Church, Tavistock at 2:30 p.m. with Howard Bean officiating. All are welcome to share in a time of fellowship and refreshments following the funeral service.
