Schaaf, Jean Eleanor nee. Hahn

Born: Dec 28, 1939
Died: Nov 23, 2017

Passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Thursday, November 23, 2017.  Jean was born 77 years ago in Kurtsville and was the daughter of the late Ernest and Dorothy Hahn.
Jean will be missed by her former husband Ron Schaaf, as well as her new partner Daniel Somerville.  Cherished mother to Barry, Dale and his wife Tara and Valerie and her husband Kevin DuPree.  Forever missed by her grandchildren; Morgan, Mackenna, Di’Auna, Aasia, Cajia and Brindisi.  Survived by her brother Glen Hahn and his wife Pat. Godmother to Kristy Dryland (Dave).  Predeceased by her nephew Trevor Hahn.
Over the years, Jean put her heart and soul into volunteer work with the Special Olympics where she would travel with the athletes and organize various events. She also volunteered at Trinity Lutheran Church in New Hamburg where she was a longtime member. She was a special lady with many talents on being an avid care taker.  Jean had many jobs though out her life, she was a PSW, a secretary, bus driver, a bank teller and also an in-home support worker.  Her passion was helping people.  Jean’s family was a very important part of her life.  Her love of preparing for gatherings always led to wonderful family dinners and quality time spent at the cottage was a yearly event.
Friends and relatives will be received at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron Street, New Hamburg on Friday, December 1, 2017 for a time of memorial visiting from 12 noon till 2:00 p.m.  A memorial service to celebrate Jean’s life will follow at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel, where Pastor Tanya Ramer will officiate.  Interment to take place at a later date in Memory Gardens, Breslau.

My heartfelt sympathies to you all. Jean mentored me on my first real job. She said smile when answering the phone because they hear it – and that was her whole demeanor 🙂 She was great to be around, happy, talking about her kids, smiling, joking and laughing everyday. First jobs can be scary but this was a wonderful way for me to enter the workforce. Fondest memories and grateful to have known her.
