Schaadt, Hans

Born: Aug 09, 1935
Died: Oct 04, 2018

Passed away peacefully in the loving arms of his wife, surrounded by the love of his family and friends on Thursday, October 4, 2018 at Grand River Hospital, KW Health Centre. Hans was born 83 years ago in Kaposszeksco, Hungary, a son of the late Konrad and Elisabeth (Lemle) Schaadt.
Beloved husband of Susanna (Trautmann) Schaadt. Cherished father of Cynthia and husband Wolfgang Neumann, Nancy and husband Steve Clark, Richard Schaadt and wife Lisa. Loving grandfather to Christina (Flint), Erika, Kevin, Scott (Leah), Ryan, Daniel, Kelly, Deanna and Matthew and great-grandfather to Max.  Hans is survived by his sister-in-law Katharina Kretschmann, sister Katie Gaibler and brother Philip (Lena) Schadt and their families. Predeceased by his brother and sister.
Hans immigrated from Germany in 1960 along with his extended family and bought the farm in New Hamburg.  He loved the land he farmed.  After retiring from his passion as a tool and die maker from Jamesway Incubator Co., he spent some of his happiest moments on his porch watching the sun go down.  Hans was a long-time member of Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Kitchener and the Schwaben Club, Kitchener where he served as a past president.  Hans also was a past president of the Canadian Dachverband der Donauschwaben.
Friends and relatives are invited to the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron Street, New Hamburg on Monday, October 8, 2018 for a time of visitation from 3 – 7 p.m.  A private family service will take place at a later date. Interment in Riverside Cemetery, New Hamburg.

Condolence from Heidi Peller-Oliver & William Oliver sent on October 11, 2018

Dear Susi, Lisa, Rick, Lisa, Nancy & husband, Cindy & husband, Katie & all grandchildren and rest of family
We are so sorry to hear for your loss of Hans. He was a great man, a caring gentleman. He knew so many in the club, he cared for everyone. We are all missing him already and will him forever.
Many memories we have had with Hans.
The best I remember is when he welcomed me back to the club in 2006 after missing for 17 years. He said “Where have you been? So wonderful you came back, we have missed you.”
The best memory for my husband William –
William met Hans in 2006 as well and Hans said to William “Now you take good care of Heidi, if I hear it’s not good, you will hear from me…..welcome to the club and you two are wonderful together.”

We send our deepest sympathy, please know that our thoughts have been with you- hugs to all of you and God Bless

Heidi & William Oliver

Condolence from George sent on October 8, 2018

I have not known Hans for that long a time but I wanted to share my thoughts of him.

A few years back, I was working for a local company making deliveries and keeping general warehouse duties. I would have to ensure that the warehouse was keep orderly and clutter free. Many older pallets would accumulate on the floor and I had made arrangements to drop them off at Hans’ residence where they were used for heating the barn. Quite often, I would pull in and see Hans waving at me and I would know that he would be outside to greet me within a few minutes. He would always offer to help although I assured him that it was not necessary and it was a task that I could do on my own. Regards, he would be out there, even in the coldest weather, trying to start that rickety tractor so that he could move those pallets out of the way. Or throw some sand under my tires when I found myself stuck on a sheet of ice. Or pick up smaller “pallet debris”.

More often than not, he would just press the hydraulic button for me to lower the pallets down while I steadied my poorly stacked heap; hoping that they would not tip over. We would chat about daily affairs, work, family, whatever topic came up.

He once insisted on buying me a bottle in appreciation for my delivering the pallets to his place but I assured him that it was a win / win for both of us and that it was a benefit to both of us. He eventually pried out of me what my favourite beverage was and one day, I found a nicely packaged gift delivered to my truck cab.

I do miss my chats with Hans that seemed to break up the monotony of my daily deliveries. I am sure many more will miss him. Rest in peace, Hans.
