Condolence from Mirella Spagnolo sent on January 5, 2018

Hi Garth. I was so very sorry to hear of the passing of your beloved wife Linida. I heard the news from John Stehr. There are no words to express to you to make you feel any better. We both know that she is with our loving Father and at some level it gives us comfort. But you will miss her presence I am sure. I did not know her but from what I have read to date, she seemed like a very warm, caring and wonderful women. May you have many cherished memories of her that you can take comfort in. I send you my blessings, my comfort, my prayers. Mirella

Condolence from Marilyn McCaul sent on January 4, 2018

Dear Garth, Tanya, Jake, Douglas, Josh, Jaiden and baby Jaxxon,
I am shocked and saddened at Linda’s passing, and feel a deep sense of loss. I had hoped I would be well enough to attend the celebration of Linda’s life tomorrow, but
sadly, I am not. I share in your grief, and send my heartfelt sympathies to each of you. I would like to have told you in person just how much Linda meant to me.
But I have put some of my thoughts into the following remembrance.
LInda was my very special friend. For almost seven years, she was my ‘helper’ during a really challenging period of my life. LInda’s ‘help’ came in many and diverse forms: cooking and cleaning, yes, but she also had a talent for fixing things (she was mechanically inclined); finding ‘lost’ things (an uncanny but welcome gift); teaching me how to do things and solve problems with my iPad. (She had great instincts for computing, unlike me.) She loved that I sometimes took her decorating advice! ‘Dr. Linda’, as she sometimes called herself, knew just how to massage my feet when I was ill – including when she was here last Thursday! Her warm embrace comforted me as I sobbed many times in her arms. Her own life was an inspiration for o me of resilience and courage.
And perhaps her best medicine, she made me laugh – often and a lot. I enjoyed her goofy and off beat sense of humour. Just before Christmas, we got singing a duet at the top of our lungs, pretending to be opera singers. All wobbly and screechy! Who know how that started, but it did. And it was hilarious! Recently,mi found her dancing and making up songs with the vacuum! What magic, joyful moments. I am thankful there were many.
Linda and I shared a connection of the heart. I admired and respected her, believed and told her she was smart (despite her protests),. She knew she could drive me crazy at times, but she delighted in knowing that I LOVED HER! Me too!
I will remember her as long as I live!

Garth, so sorry for your loss. Time to reflect on the many good times as kids, we had at Uncle Jakes. Aunt Irene disciplining us for getting wet feet during the spring melt and many other adventures. Linda will be sadly missed and so sad to have this tragic end. Be brave Garth, time will help heal the void her absence has created.

Linda would be here at my house right now cleaning for the first time this year.. I wish so much she was cleaning here right now armed with a long scrub brush, a huge smile, and her larger than life personality filling my home with the joy that she often brought with her in great supply. She was a really good person, a really good listener and a loyal friend. I miss her already, there’s a silence in the room that shouldn’t be here today, and a big empty spot where the laughter was, but she lived a life of no regrets, and I wouldn’t trade our time together for anything. I know I’ll see Linda again someday if I live life with half as big a heart as hers!

Jake and Karissa,
I am so sorry for your loss. I never met your Mom, Jake but from that picture and the write-up about her, I can tell that I would have liked her. I’m sure that she will be watching over you two and Jaxxon always. Your happy memories of her will live on in your hearts forever.

Linda had a heart of gold and was always there if someone needed her. She treated my nephews Josh and Jaiden like kings. I know she will be missed by her Thrift Shop employees and customers as she was a familiar face to many. This is such a tragic loss and we express our condolences to Garth, Jake, Tanya and Douglas at this time. Albert learned the ropes of the drywall trade from Garth and is grateful for the experience he gained. Our hearts are breaking at the grief the family must be feeling right now. I know Linda will be greeted with open arms at the Golden Gates.

A dear friend of ours that we called Auntie Linda known as the jewelry lady to most. We hung out with her at thrift stores, auction sales, Tim Hortons and she came every Friday for a double waffle ice cream cone at HG Moo’s Ice Cream Shop in Shakespeare. She was like a aunt to us because even with her big heart and caring for others, unlike most she told you how it was and spoke her mind. That’s what we loved about her the most. She will forever be in our hearts and memories. Thanks auntie Linda we love you and will miss you.
Love Linda and Sean

My family and I would like to express our deepest sympathies. Linda was my mother in law for more than a decade. She has always treated my son’s Josh and Jaiden to the very best of her ability. Her heart was always in the right place. She will be dearly missed for sure. Linda and Jaiden (16yrs) had a long running Sunday grandma/grandson day. They lunched and thrift store shopped for albums, cassettes and whatever else they found. Jaiden will miss these moments for years to come. May you rest in peace Grandma Linda. Xoxoxo
