Kuranoff, Ronald Gregory

Born: Jul 29, 1931
Died: Oct 10, 2018

(July 29, 1931 – October 10, 2018)
It is with great sadness that the family of Ronald (“Ron”) Gregory Kuranoff announces his passing on October 10, 2018 at the Stratford General Hospital.  Born on July 29, 1931 in Toronto, Ontario, Ron was the only child of Irving and Ethel (Mason) Kuranoff.
Ron is survived by his loving wife of sixty years, Joan (Tucker) Kuranoff; their devoted children Stephen, Susan and David; and their four beautiful grandchildren Alan, William, Amelia and Adam.
Ron got his accounting degree at McGill university in Montreal and devoted his whole career to the university, starting in the mail room and ending as the Comptroller.  He retired at age 60 and for many years after enjoyed the life of a Canadian snowbird, living in Montreal in the warm seasons and heading to Florida for the winter.
Ron’s favourite activity was camping, and it was during a camping trip that he met his wife through a mutual friend.  Ron shared his love of camping with his children and they spent every summer enjoying trips to provincial parks and journeys all over Canada and New England.  Ron’s grandchildren continue to enjoy the family tradition of being avid campers.
Ron’s other passion was cars and he enjoyed going to car shows, collecting Classic Car magazines, and watching Formula One racing and other car programs.  He even enjoyed owning his own Mustang convertible which he always said made him feel 10 years younger.
A memorial reception will be held at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron Street, New Hamburg, on Tuesday, October 16th, 2018 from 2 – 4 p.m.  If so desired, memorial donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or a charity of the donor’s choice (Cheques Accepted).

Ron and I were friends from our early teen years way back in Montreal and greatly valued our friendship. Even to the point of having to admit of being the “mutual friend” who introduced Ron and Joan many years ago. We have been close friends and fellow campers ever since. We will sorely miss Ron after so many good years and sincerely hope you find your happy camping grounds.
