I have fond memories of Richard in high school. He was a warm, friendly and caring person with a wonderful smile.

I wish to express my sincerest sympathy and want to assure you, his family, of my prayers as you adjust to life without a father and husband.

Condolence from Rosalie Steinmann sent on May 10, 2017

As a high school friend, I have great memories of hanging around with the Rockway ‘gang’. Because we don’t live in the country I haven’t had many opportunities to reconnect. I’m so glad I got to see Rick a few years ago in an impromptu Rockway get-together. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Sending our deepest sympathy to you and your children, Barb. We have fond memories from years ago at Avon. May God’s loving presence surround you and comfort you in the days ahead.

Condolence from Rick Martin sent on May 10, 2017

I am very saddened to hear of Rick’s sudden and tragic passing. Like our mutual high school friend, Dave Wenger, said in his condolences, during our high school years, Rick was known to be socially awkward, as was I a bit. I reached out to befriend him for the four years I was at Rockway. He was definately the most loyal friend anyone could have during those years and many years beyond. So I appreciate him being such a good friend to me as well. Rick and I enjoyed many common interests: stargazing, and especially coin and stamp collecting. We both loved Math, so it did not surprise me that his career followed the accounting path. We had mutual high school friends like Dave Wenger and Darcy Gingerich, that we both enjoyed spending time with. Rick was more likely to be at Rockway reunions than most, and I always looked forward to catching up with him there. I’ll miss him.

Barb, Ryan & AJ – I have never met you but feel that I know you. Rick shared so much about each of you as he worked on the books for our company – Northside Trophies & Awards. He was so proud of his family and of each of your accomplishments. You could tell that he really enjoyed the opportunities to do things together as a family. We were shocked to hearing of his passing so tragically. When he was in the shop a couple weeks ago he commented on how he hoped the rain would stop so he could ride his bike. He really seemed to be anticipating the opportunity to ride again for the season. We can not imagine what you are going through but please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers at this time of loss.

It is with such sadness that I write this little note. Rick had been such an instrumental part of keeping my little company up to date on all its accounting and reporting ….. having him work for me for the last 15 plus years…..he was a quiet and gentle soul and will be missed greatly. It was just a couple weeks ago we shared lunch as he worked again on a Saturday ….. to the Kramer family please accept my deepest condolences for I never would have expected the Lord to call him at such an early stage of his life. May God’s gentle hand comfort you all during this very hard and sad moment. God bless you all

Dear Barb, Sincere condolences to you, Aundrea, Brandon, and Ryan,

We are all very shocked and saddened by this tragic loss. Richard was always a thoughtful and kind presence in our family. I remember when we were children, all the cousins would be playing in Aunt Sandra and Uncle Andy’s basement while the adults talked upstairs. Richard was fun, but and the same time, our steady voice of reason. We would probably have gotten into a lot more trouble without him. I remember your wedding was one of the rare occasions when all the Kramer cousins were back together again, we were all growing up and building our own lives. Much time has past since then, but it was always comfortable when we met up again. It was so good of your whole family to attend Mom and Dad’s 50th wedding anniversary do, we all appreciated It and will keep all the positive memories in our hearts.

God bless you Barb, I hope he will stay close to you and send good people to be around you and your family. See you son.

Barb I do not have the words to say how sorry I am to hear of Richards accident and passing. I have now been a widow for just over 1 year.
Please please call me if you ever need to ask me anything or call me to grieve or just have someone to listen to you and walk your journey
of grief with you. I do know of one thing for sure God has taken care of me as a widow and defended my son Dean who is now fatherless.
It is so good to know Richard is with the Lord. It still hurts and we miss our loved one. The firsts are hard. God is so close in this time and
mourns with us and brings comfort. They say take one day at a time. Well for me it is one minute at a time one breath at a time.
my number is 519-894-3636 or rmdsunshine@rogers.com please never never hesitate to call me or email me. You will be in my prayers
along with your children. So much to grieve on so many levels. Be good to yourself. There is no time limit on grief you take as much time
that you need. again I am so sorry for your great loss, Maggie Greenacre May God bless you and keep you and give you his peace.
