Passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at The Village of University Gates, Waterloo.
Reta had farmed along side her husband Wilfred at RR#1 Wellesley. Reta resided at Nith Terrace in New Hamburg for a number of years. She was born 96 years ago in Waterloo Township and was the daughter of the late William W. and Caroline (Westfall) Schmidt.
Reta is reunited with her husband Wilfred W. Kneisel who predeceased her on February 11, 2016. Loving mother of Darlene Kelterborn & Thom Hagerty of Guelph, Wayne Kneisel & Karen Heipel of New Hamburg, Delores & Luke Schwartzentruber, Brian & Barbara Kneisel all of R.R. # 1 Wellesley. Sadly missed by her grandchildren Barry (Kim), Kristen (Paul), Jennifer (Matthew), Nathan (Sarah), Joshua (Lillia), Katelyn, Adam (Stephanie), Graham (Kara), Leah, Stephanie (Peter), Ryan (Melody) and by her 13 great-grandchildren. Remembered by Susan and Raymond and Timothy Seyler. Dear sister and sister-in-law of Beatrice Clemmer, Glen Schmidt, Wray and wife Virginia Schmidt, Nyle and wife Hazel Schmidt, Dorothy Jutzi, Audrey Schumm, Louise Schmidt and Alice Knipfel. Reta was predeceased by her son Roy in 1977, daughter Dianne Hoffman in 1973, brothers Ward Schmidt, Cleo Schmidt, Floyd Schmidt, Ralph Schmidt, Harley in infancy, her sisters, Ida in childhood, Doreen and her husband Walter Jacobi and brother-in-law Lamar Schumm.
Reta was an active member of St. James Lutheran Church, North Easthope Township and was a member of the ELW. Reta enjoyed gardening, quilting and cooking. In her later years she enjoyed travelling.
Family and friends will be received at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron Street, New Hamburg on Friday, June 21, 2019 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at St. James Lutheran Church, North Easthope Township with Pastor Dave Hammer officiating. Interment in the adjoining church cemetery. As expressions of sympathy donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or World Vision and may be made through the funeral home (Cheques Accepted).
