Heinbuch, Wallace (Wally) Robert
Wallace Robert Heinbuch, age 84, of Foxboro Green, Baden, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, July 22, 2017, after a lengthy illness. Beloved husband of Linda Gardner, dear father of Stephen Heinbuch and the late John Heinbuch, and of Mary, Susan, and Stephen Gardner. Fondly remembered by grandsons Matthew Heinbuch and Brandon Gardner-Thompson, and nephews and nieces Allan (Marg) Heinbuck, Allana Heinbuck, Dennis (Yvonne) Heinbuch, and Carol Dries. Wally was born in South Easthope Township. He was the youngest son of the late Edward and Margaret (Wettlaufer) Heinbuch. He graduated from Stratford High School, obtained his O.L.S. certification, graduated from Stratford Teachers’ College, obtained his B.A. (Western), and his B. Ed. and then M. Ed. (U. of T.), and his Supervisory Officer papers. He became a school principal with the Northumberland Newcastle Board of Education, was instrumental in pioneering French Immersion in the elementary schools in Cobourg and Bowmanville, was an executive member of the Kiwanis Club, and was later president of the Lions’ Club in Bowmanville. He was a negotiating member of OPSTF. He was the first member of his family to graduate from high school, and later university. In recent years, Wally was a member of the local Retired Business and Professional Men’s Club. Wally was predeceased by his parents Edward W. and Margaret A. (Wettlaufer) and brothers Lloyd (Katherine), Jack (Kathleen), and Bill (Bernice), and sisters Marie and Ruth Louise (Edna) Heinbuch. Family was always very important to Wally. Wally and Linda moved to Foxboro Green, Baden, in1998. He assisted his sisters in Stratford, encouraged and supported his children, and was instrumental in keeping in contact with all family members. He loved investing, golfing, good wine and scotch, good food, nice cars, travelling, gardening, and experiencing all facets of life. He was, indeed, the “rock” in the family, the “glue” that held us all together. Sincere thanks to Bette Overholt-Barth, CCAC Coordinator, Cindy and Laura and the ParaMed Palliative Care team of nurses, ParaMed Personal Support Workers Sherri, Ross and Klenisse, Dr. R. Stevens (Nurse Kathy), Dr. A. Jakda and his team, Dr. R. Grace, Dr. D. Cameron (New Hamburg), and the entire staff and volunteer association members of the Grand River Regional Cancer Centre. Their support, encouragement and excellent care of Wally was outstanding. Our Foxboro Green neighbours deserve a big thank you for all their help over a lengthy period of time, particularly Andy Schaffer who spent many days with Wally at the Grand River Regional Cancer Centre, and George Jones, a master problem-solver on many occasions. According to Wally’s wishes, cremation has taken place. The Celebration of Wally’s Life will be held at Foxboro Green Recreation Centre, 95 Foxboro Drive, Baden, Ontario, N3A 3N2, on Wednesday August 2, 2017 with Words of Remembrance at 2:00pm followed by a reception. Memorial donations may be made to the Grand River Regional Cancer Centre or a charity of your choice through Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron St., New Hamburg, N3A 1K2, 519-662-1661.
