Edna Mae Haunn (Giilck)
Passed away peacefully in her 94th year on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at Columbia Forest Long Term Care home in Waterloo. Edna was formerly a long-time resident of New Hamburg and was born on May 31, 1925 in South Easthope Township. She was a daughter of the late Asmus & Emma Giilck (Wettlaufer). A faithful, life-long member of Trinity Lutheran Church in New Hamburg, Edna gladly volunteered many hours of service to the church assisting with funeral lunches. In her younger years, she was a professional seamstress. Edna derived much pleasure from her interests in cooking, canning, baking, sewing, crocheting, gardening, music and “having a game” of either Dominoes or Aggravation, as well as spending much cherished time with her family. Beloved wife of John Haunn, who predeceased her on December 28, 1991. Sister of Winnifred and the late Fred Ackersviller of London, sister of Carl and the late Lee Giilck of Kitchener, sister-in-law of Shirley and the late Harold Giilck of Waterloo, and sister-in-law of Barb and the late Edward Giilck of Northbrook. Also remembered by her many nephews, nieces, and their families, who provided Edna with much care and many visits. Edna was predeceased by her sisters and brothers Florence and Bill Schwing, Lorene and John Wallace, Lorne and Lorene, Oscar (in infancy), Norman, Elizabeth (in infancy), Erma and Fred Schmitt, and Emma, as well as sisters-and-brothers-in-law Ernest and Esther Haunn, Max and Jean Haunn and Marie Miller.
Relatives and friends are invited to Trinity Lutheran Church, 23 Church Street, New Hamburg for a time of visitation on Monday, March 11, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Helen Toman officiating. Interment to follow at Riverside Cemetery, New Hamburg.
