LAWRENCE (LARRY) ALBERT BINNEY (Ret. Captain)
It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Lawrence (Larry) Albert Binney in his 80th year at Nithview Homes LTC, New Hamburg, from Frontal Lobe Dementia.
Born: May 1, 1939 in Drummondville, Quebec
Larry leaves to mourn his loving wife and best friend, Kirsten B. Skafte-Binney.
Predeceased by his parents, Albert and Grace Binney, brother Ronnie Binney (Heather), Sister Sherry Binney and a son, Brian Binney.
He leaves to mourn his loving 3 sisters, Marg Slack (Stephen), Sheila Lawrence (Barry), Eileen Pearce and brother Ricky (Christine).
Children, Sue Binney, Linda Leibel (Bill), AnnMarie McManus (Brian), Tyrone Binney, Step Children, Marie-Louise Skafte-Martin (Roger L. Martin) and Gregory Skafte.
Sisters and brothers-in-law, Helle and Dr Mogens Lytje, Dagny and John Johansen of Denmark
Grandchildren, Jenna-May Jamieson (Connor), Dustin Leibel, Wyatt Binney, Andrew, Bennett & Kaitlin McManus and Harlow Skafte.
Also 2 Great-Grandchildren, Declan and Torin Jamieson.
Several nieces and nephew and many, many friends.
Proud to serve his country for 36 1/2 years in the Canadian Armed Forces.
Larry was a Past Master of Brotherhood Lodge, and a member of Waterloo Lodge 539, Waterloo.
A member of Scottish Rite and Knights Templar.
Past Patron and served as Grand Sentinel in the Order of Easter Star.
Larry was a passionate Bridge and hockey player, tending net since age 4. He played in his youth on the Canadian National Team. He routed vigorously for his favourite team, Montreal Canadians. Larry shared his love of music by playing his beloved Martin guitar and singing-voice with many friend over his lifespan.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place at the mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron Street, New Hamburg, on Sunday, December 9, 2018 from 2 – 4 p.m.
Celebration of Life and Internment at Sunset Mindepark, Puslinch, ON, will take a later date.
A special thank you to the wonderful caring PSW’s RPN’s and RN’s for the past 6 1/2 years Larry spent at Nithview Home in New Hamburg. To Dr Barbara Cowing for her compassionate Care. To Paula for sharing her music with Larry.
Faithful Volunteer visitor, Rick, whom Larry really bonded with. To our friends who came to visit Larry over these past years. It was very much appreciated.
